The Big and Little Chino are names applied to both aquifers and grasslands that are critical to the health of the watershed. The grasslands provide habitat for pronghorn, burrowing owls and prairie dogs while supporting a vibrant cattle industry. The aquifers below serve the towns of Prescott, Prescott Valley, and Chino Valley while also providing most of the flow in the Upper Verde River River.
