The Lower Eastern Shore region of the Chesapeake Bay is comprised primarily by the open waters of Tangier Sound, which includes Smith, Deal, and Bloodsworth Islands. This region is home to extensive oyster reefs that are currently undergoing restoration. Tangier Sound is also known for its fisheries. (Based on Coastal Conservation Association Maryland.)
