Trails along the river provide river access and enjoyment for all sorts of passive recreation—walking, birding, fishing, and bicycling. Miles of trail within 200 feet of mainstem rivers and impoundments were calculated and scored, assuming that trails within the riverfront area along 25% of the river’s length are very good. Modern technology via web-based services has also enhanced OARS’ ability to find and verify trails along the rivers, which may be new or may have been unknown in 2018. Trails at or near the river can be found on the OARS River Recreation Guides.
