The Auglaize River is one of four major rivers draining into the Maumee River in northwestern Ohio, and the Blanchard River is one of its major tributaries. The entire Auglaize River watershed encompasses over 1,600 mi2/4,140 km2 in Ohio and northeastern Indiana. The majority of the area (80%) is used as cropland. The river flows through the Ohio counties of Defiance, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, Allen, Auglaize and Hardin as well as the Indiana counties of Allen and Adams. The Auglaize watershed is home to over 243,000 people.*
