The Eastern Islands region is at the far east edge of the shallow western basin and is characterized by the archipelago of small islands spanning the lake, including Kelleys Island and the Bass Islands of Ohio, and Pelee Island in Ontario. Some of these islands are inhabited and serve as popular tourist destinations. The region of Ohio that includes access to the islands is known as "Vacationland" and also includes Port Clinton and Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky.
