The James River flows 340 miles across the entire state of Virginia. The tidal portion of the river, which feeds directly into the Chesapeake Bay, supports renowned largemouth bass and blue catfish fisheries and has hosted several fishing tournaments. This portion of the river is also historically relevant: the first successful English settlement in North American, Jamestown, sits on the banks of the tidal James River.
